Harold Kallis

Harold Kallis, 82, went to be with his Lord, on November 13, 2017, at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday November 17, at United Methodist Church, 401 Main Street North, Tuttle, ND. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday November 16, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 East Divide, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday. Harold Melvin Kallis was born April 13, 1935 to Jake and Katherine (Okken) Kallis in Burt, ND on the family farm. He went to country school one mile north of where he was born, and attended high school in New Leipzig, ND, where he graduated in 1954. Harold worked on the family farm until 1962 and then attended Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND. He moved to Williston, ND and worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Company from the fall of 1963 through the fall of 1966. He accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of 12, and rededicated his life to the Lord at the age of 21. He loved singing for the Lord. He met his lovely wife, Annetta, when she sang with a mixed quartet that he was singing tenor for. So it pays to sing for the Lord! Harold married Annetta Rask of Chaseley, ND on September 26, 1964 at the EUB Church in Tuttle, ND. In 1966, they moved to Cody, WY, where he worked for Husky Oil until 1984. From 1984-1986, he worked for Flying J Oil Company. In March of 1986, they moved to Denver, CO and worked for Frontier Oil. In June of 1996, they moved to Hurdsfield, ND and retired there. From 1996-2007, he enjoyed doing different local odd jobs. He and Annetta joined the Nazarene Church in 1997 in Hurdsfield. They moved to Tuttle, ND in October of 2009 for Annetta to be pastor of the Nazarene church there. Harold and Annetta worked faithfully in the Tuttle Nazarene Church until its closure in February of 2016. All who knew Harold were blessed by his beautiful tenor voice and his persistent teasing! He was a ray of sunshine with a giggle that was unmistakable and a smile to go with it! He cared deeply for everyone around him and prayed diligently for their needs and their driving safety on the roads. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Annetta (Rask) Kallis; one sister and brother-in-law, Mable Auch (Willard), Andover, MN; two sister-in-laws, Darlene Kallis, Mott, ND, Vi Kallis, Cambridge, MN; nephews and niece, Bruce and Irene Kallis, Bismarck, ND, Perry and Linda Kallis, Lodi, CA, Scott and Kathryn Kallis, Detroit Lakes, MN, Leland and Cathy Ebert, Mott, ND, LaMone Auch, Coon Rapids, MN, Galen and Mary Auch, Anoka, MN, Kathi and Glen Dewey, Ellinwood, KS; and many great nephews and nieces. He is also survived by their spiritual children, Bruce and Irene Kallis, Bismarck, ND, Blaine and Joy Mehlhoff, Arena, ND, and their families. He is preceded in death by parents, Jake and Katherine (Okken) Kallis; Kallis brothers Walter, Alfred, Lester, and Robert, and sister-in-law Lorene (Ebert) Kallis.
