Harold Neameyer, 82, Bismarck, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16, at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave, with Rev. Wayne Sattler officiating.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 4:00 p.m.
Harold was born on January 5, 1937 to Reinhard and Annie (Gross) Neameyer. He was raised on a farm near Mylo, ND. The family moved to Rolla where he graduated from high school in 1955. Following high school graduation, he attended St. John’s University and graduated from North Dakota State University. In 1962, Harold married Barbara Gailfus in Rolla. From this union, three children were born: Tony, Janel, and Kelly.
Harold helped start Rolla Glass & Paint before joining Job Service ND in 1966. Job Service ND took Harold to various cities including Rolla, Minot, Valley City, and eventually Bismarck in 1972, where he was promoted to Field Operations Chief from which he retired in 1996.
Harold was passionate about softball, hunting and fishing. He played baseball and then softball for 52 years. He was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame in 2005. He was active in volunteer work at the Church of St. Anne, St. Mary’s High School Carnival, the Meals on Wheels Program, and RSVP Program. Harold participated in various wildlife organizations and the Knights of Columbus. Above all else, Harold loved spending time with his family. Harold and Barb could be seen attending a variety of school and sporting events for their eight grandchildren.
Harold is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Tony (Trina), Janel (Chris) Meeker, and Kelly (Cherrie); eight grandchildren, Broderick, Dominic, Tessa and Taryn Neameyer, Casey and Megan Neameyer; and Spencer and Nolan Meeker; and many special nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a stillborn son; brothers, Fred, Ray, Reinhard, Robert, Earl, and Elmer; and sister, Bernice Brockob.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Harold’s name to the God’s Child Project or the Bismarck Cancer Center.
