A prayer service will be held Friday, August 9, 2019 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, at 7:00 pm. The family will greet guests prior to the service from 5-7 pm.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 601 N 4th St., Bismarck, on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11:00 am with reception and burial to follow.
Harold was born on April 19, 1952 in Bismarck, ND, to Herbert and Ella (Stehr) Schuler. He attended school in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1970. From there Harold would spend his life in the driver’s seat of an 18-wheeler, working alongside his father and brothers for years.
On April 29, 1984 he married Mary Homsey. The couple lived in Bismarck and raised two daughters, Janel and Jennifer, and have two granddaughters. The couple eventually owned and operated a trucking company together, and after years of doing things on their own, Harold went to work driving truck for a local aggregate company. He worked for different companies over the last few years, most recently at Weisz & Sons Inc.
Harold spent his time working, spending time at his family’s shop and watching TV. There were plenty of evenings when Harold could be caught watching many different shows as he waited for commercial breaks to end, and every Sunday he could be found watching a car auction or NASCAR race during the season. Harold also enjoyed his morning and afternoon coffee hours with all of his “coffee buddies.” You could practically set a watch by their coffee times.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Homsey Schuler; his daughters, Janel (Kasey) Welch and Jennifer (Andrew Amundson) Schuler; his granddaughters, Charlie and Dylan Welch; daughter, Sherrie Schuler; son, Kelly Schuler; his mother Ella; his siblings, Richard Schuler, Linda (Delmer Schlenker) Schuler, and Gary Schuler; along with several cousins, nieces and a nephew.
Harold was preceded in death by his father, Herbert; and mother-in-law, Freda Homsey.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. George’s Episcopal Church.
Harold’s family would like to thank everyone for their love and support through this difficult time.
