Harold Spletto, 84, of Dickinson, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024, at his residence in Bismarck. Per Harold’s request, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held.
Harold was born on May 18, 1940, the son of Hubert and Marie Spletto. He grew up on the family homestead near Anamoose, ND and graduated from Anamoose High School, class of 1958. After graduation, he proceeded to work for the ND Highway Department surveying crew.
Upon working in Killdeer, he met his loving wife of 62 years, Bea. Harold was married to Bea Spletto on June 4, 1960, and their marriage was blessed with two sons, David and Michael. Harold was the “Culligan Man” for several years for Western ND. Later, he sold church furniture for Steffes Church Furniture in Dickinson and then founded the job he loved and worked at until his retirement. Harold started ‘Oak Crafts’ by Harold & Bea and enjoyed this business for over 30 years.
Harold finally put his woodworking tools away in 2016 at the age of 76. He loved making new wood products and going to craft shows. He started out building cedar clocks and later had a line of nearly a hundred different oak products. His craftsmanship was well known throughout the state of ND, and later his eBay sales sold in nearly every state in the United States. Harold loved working alongside Bea for over 30 years. Working together with Bea was his first love. His second love was his adored dogs: Queeny, Dusty, Sadie, and Maggie, who he smothered with love and affection. Harold enjoyed taking care of his tree rows and yard. He always enjoyed watching the birds eat out of his many feeders. Harold and Bea took much pride and care in the home they built and enjoyed together in Dickinson. It brought many years of shared joy and love for family gatherings, easter egg hunts for the grandchildren and wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas memories.
Harold had a small family but a large group of friends. He will be missed dearly. His smile and his storytelling will live on in our hearts.
Harold is survived by his sister, Anita Jacobson; his sons, David (Autumn) and Michael (Linda); four grandchildren, Christy, April, Mitchell (Victoria), and Brad; and five great-grandchildren, Alayna, Logan, McKenna, Ellie and Marshall. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bea; parents, and brother, Cecil.
Family requests memorials be to the Dickinson Animal Shelter.
