Harold R. Uttke, 95, of Bismarck, ND, passed away peacefully on Monday April 21, 2025, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, May 5, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1402 E Ave C, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM with a prayer service starting at 3:00 on Sunday, April 27, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. *note that the visitation will be the week prior to the funeral service.
Harold was born March 11, 1930, to Rudoph “Rudy” and Emma (Friesz) Uttke in Elgin, ND and was raised in the rural area of Grant County. In 1954, he enlisted in the army where he spent time in Verdun, France. Following his honorable discharge from the service in 1956 Harold attended Hanson Mechanical Trade School in Fargo, ND.
On September 14,1957 Harold married Charlotte Adler at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Carson, ND. They then made their home in Steele, ND for eight years where he was employed at Wallin Motor Company. In 1965 they moved to Bismarck where he began his employment at Fleck Motors Sales which eventually became Ned Nastrom Motors and later Wilhelm. After working for 30 years in the automotive industry, he retired in 1992.
Harold’s hobbies were wood working, restoring vehicles and he took great pride in his yard. He and Charlotte, married 66 years, enjoyed traveling as well as socializing and dancing at the local fraternal organizations. Harold enjoyed making treats for the family, including homemade ice cream, malts and buttered popcorn.
Harold is survived by his children, Wes (Georgia) Uttke, Michelle (E.Dean) Holwegner, Sharon (Roger) German, and Paul (Nicole) Uttke; grandchildren, Trish (Ryan) Jacobs, Desiree (Matt) Lokken; D.J. Holwegner, Jen (Moses Tamili) Holwegner, Allison (Andrew) Traiser, Olivia German (fiancé, Cameron Erbele), and Jakob German; great-grandchildren, Gabby Jacobs, Lenny Lokken, Sima and Malosi Timali and Weston and Jackson Traiser. He also leaves behind his siblings Victor (Ethelyn) Uttke, Bernice Fuchs, and Lucille (Charles) Bender and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Emma Uttke; wife, Charlotte; mother and father-in-law, Jacob and Linda Adler; step mother-in-law Hilda Adler, sister and brother-in-law Ella and Walter Adler and brother-in-law Clayton Fuchs.
