Harry Falconer, Bismarck, 90, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Harry was born on a farm south of Bismarck – the same farm his father was born on. He attended grade school a half mile from the farm and graduated from Bismarck High School. Following graduation, he worked on the farm. Harry rode bucking horses and was a part of many rodeos in the area.
In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and went to Korea. From his time in the military, he won a number of medals, including Purple Hearts and Bronze Star. After his discharge, he worked as a salesman for Goffrey Supply.
He enrolled at BJC where he learned to play the bagpipes and was apart of the BJC Bagpipe band under the direction of Jared Kepler. Harry continued to play the bagpipes for many years. While attending college, Harry played on the football team and played for the Conference Championship.
After college, Harry worked for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Ohio Oil Co., before eventually starting his own professional drafting business. He later started Falconer Construction Company. Harry moved to Nevada for a short period of time before ultimately returning to Bismarck where he’s lived ever since.
Harry enjoyed reading, visiting with friends and swapping tales, spending winters in Arizona and going dancing.
He is survived by his wife, Laverna Jaeger; daughters, Sharon and Kelly; son, Mac; and six grandchildren.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and William; sister, Hazel; and two sons William and Bruce.
