Harry was born in Emmons county, North Dakota on March 12, 1927 to Edward and Pauline (Maier) Renschler. He lived and was educated in Linton, ND. Growing up along the Missouri River provided great enjoyment for Harry and his siblings and he developed a passion for hunting which he enjoyed throughout his life. In 1945, on his eighteenth birthday, he was drafted into the U. S. Army to serve in WWII. He served 2 years in the Army with half of that time being spent in Germany.   After discharge in 1946 he joined the National Guard and was federalized in 1950 at the age of 23. He was sent to Incheon, South Korea, and placed into battle as a forward observer. He spent nearly two years in the Korean War before being honorably discharged in 1952 as a Sargeant First Class. Harry then returned to North Dakota and completed his education at North Dakota State College of Science in the Electrical program graduating in 1954. He travelled to Seattle, WA and was employed by Puget Sound Engineering.

The summer of 1955 brought Harry back to North Dakota for a short visit, or so he thought. That is when he met his future bride, Irene Rath of Bismarck.  Harry and Irene were married on November 16, 1956 in Bismarck. Harry then began working for Montana Dakota Utilities. He continued there until 1964 when he began working for Western Area Power Administration until his retirement in 1991. Harry was active in several organizations throughout his lifetime, including the VFW where he was Commander of Post 1326 from 1996 to 1997. In 2009 Harry was delighted to be part of the Roughrider Honor Flight to Washington, DC. It was a wonderful experience for him of which he had fond memories. Harry and Irene were blessed with 2 daughters and 3 granddaughters. Family and faith were his f irst priority and brought him great joy. Together they enjoyed many trips with and to visit family and friends. Harry enjoyed being active in church activities and held various positions in his congregation throughout the years. But his greatest joy was worshiping his Lord and studying The Word.

Harry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene, Bismarck, his daughters and son-in-law, Darcy and Scott Miller, Sartell, MN,   Korrie Slayter, Bartlett, IL, 3 granddaughters, Megan Miller, Phoenix, AZ, Laura Miller and fiance Anthony Duhn and Claire Slayter, all of Minneapolis, MN, and one sister,   Aileen Bradsher, McCook, NE.
