Born on a crisp November 26, 1930, Helen Huber's life unfolded, spanning generations. She was the daughter of Frank and Rosina (Hettick) Leithold. Her journey began in the heartland, in rural Elgin, North Dakota, where she graduated from Elgin High School. In a time of one-room schoolhouses Helen embraced the noble calling of a country teacher. For two and a half years, she nurtured young minds until love led her another direction.
In 1950, her own life blossomed when she met Al Kaul. They married on December 29, 1950. Together, they raised four children, Christie, Nancy, Mary and Allen. Their journey spanned three decades, until Al's passing in 1980.
Life gifted Helen a second love with Elmer Huber. They married on June 21, 1986 and took up residence in Bismarck. Elmer died on December 21, 2003.
Helen endured, staying focused on family and keeping busy with the activities that brought joy in her life. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a member of LWML. She enjoyed quilting and bible study and belonged to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She found solace in gardening, fishing and swimming at the YMCA.
Her long life and legacy will be remembered in many different ways and quiet moments by those who shared the journey with her.
Helen is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Dick) Crisafulli, Glendive MT, Mary (Stew) Russell, Clancy, MT; one son, Allen (Anh) Kaul, Miami Beach, FLA; one step daughter, Kathy (Chris) Rooke, Bismarck, 10 grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; one sister, Deloris Siebert, Billings MT; son-in-law, Steve Wallace, Missoula, MT.
Helen was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, her daughter, Christie Wallace, three sisters and five brothers.
