Hilda Welk of Bismarck passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on January 22, 2025.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, Jan. 25, at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 PM, Friday, Jan. 24, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. A rosary/vigil will begin at 7:00 PM.
Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, Jan. 27, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Hilda, the fourth oldest of nine children, was born August 24, 1929 in Raleigh, ND to Anton and Emily (Bachmeier) Volk. She was raised on the family farm near McIntosh, SD. She married Pius Welk on November 26, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bismarck. They were married for 61 years until his passing in 2017.
Hilda worked at the GP Steakhouse for six years until becoming a housewife and mother. She loved dancing, was an excellent cook, and enjoyed her many friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a devout Catholic and a member of the Church of St. Anne women’s guild.
Hilda is survived by her daughter Connie (Michael) Stevenson, Bismarck; sons Don (Cindy) Welk, Fargo, and Paul (Janean) Welk, Bismarck; eight grandchildren, Nova Stevenson, Minneapolis, MN, Lauren (Brandon) Ktytor, Bismarck, Braden (Cameron) Stevenson, Minneapolis, MN, Marcus (fiancé Abby) Welk, Brooklyn Park, MN, Emmalee Welk, Chandler, AZ, Thomas (Morgan) Welk, Bismarck, John (Megan) Welk, Bismarck, and Jeffrey (fiancé Briana) Welk, Bismarck; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Leo (Janis) Volk, Rapid City, SD, and sister Florence (Don) Zacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband Pius; her parents; her brothers, Melchior, Johnny, Mike (Lena), William (Barbara); and her sisters, Isabella and Loretta.
