Howard W. Neils, passed away peacefully in Bismarck, ND on August 12, 2024 at the age of 94.

Interment will be held at 10:00 AM (CDT), Monday, Sept. 30, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Howard W. Neils was born November 25, 1929, the son of William and Katherine Neils. He attended Bismarck High School and Bismarck State College. He served in the National Guard for 2 years, followed by 4 years in the Air Force, and then spent 22 years in the Air Force Reserves, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in chemical engineering and began his career at the Mandan refinery for Amoco Oil, where he worked from 1957 until his retirement in 1989.
He married Dorothy Anderson on August 26, 1956 in Hatton, ND. Howard was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He was a member of the American Legion, Amvets, Elks, Sigma Tau (honorary engineering fraternity), American Institute of Chemical Engineers, various positions of the Republican Party and president of BSC National Alumni Association.
Howard is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three children, Jeff, Julie (Mike) and Pam; grandchildren, Sara (Rob), Scott, Danny (Lindsey), Jenna (Mandi), Natalie, Sydney and Michael; great-grandchildren, Alexa, Elodie and Lucas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerald; sister, Betty; granddaughter, Laura and daughter-in-law, Mary Kay.
