Ida Lena Miller, 91, longtime Hazen resident, passed peacefully in her sleep the early hours of Nov. 29, 2020 at Elm Crest Nursing Home.
Visitation will be at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave, Bismarck on Friday, December 4 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Due to Covid, a private family graveside service will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Friends are invited to watch the live stream of the service on the funeral home website, starting at 1:00 on Friday. For those unable to view the service at that time, a recording will be available on the website shortly following the service.
Ida Lena Miller was born April 4, 1929 to Emma Grosz and John Schramm of Hazen, ND.
She loved to dance and met Eldor Miller at a dance in the “Sheep Shed” in Beulah. They married on Sept 22, 1944 and were married for 66 years. They lived and worked together on a farm north of Hazen, ND.
Ida was actively engaged in her health food store, The Nature Nook, in Hazen before moving to Bismarck where she worked in retail. Ida met with her sisters once a month for lunch for over 30 years. She attended the Word of Faith church and faithfully read her devotions every morning and the newspaper from beginning to end, especially the Hazen Star. Ida was involved in the American Legion Auxiliary in Bismarck selling poppies for Memorial Day. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, quilting, sewing, embroidering, ceramics, crafts, playing cards, dancing and laughing. She spent her last days at Elm Crest Nursing Home in New Salem.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband Eldor Miller, her sister Verone Richter and brothers, Roy Schramm, Ray Schramm and Walter Schramm.
She is leaving fond memories with her daughters, Diane (Arvid) Jaranson, Northfield, MN, Karen (Gordon) Hoffner, Beulah, ND, Kathy (Dustin) Schwartz, Meadowlakes, TX, and Deborah Miller, Oaxaca, Mexico; sisters, Irene Durant, Alice Baszler, Marion Suess all of Bismarck, ND; brother, Delmer Schramm of Hazen, ND; her grandchildren Julie Cornett, Jodi Schlader, Jonathan Jaranson, Jhelsi Gulmon, Joey Mack, Karrie Bohan, Dawn Haqq; her great grandchildren Megan, Matthew, Scott, Rachel, Britta, Myles, Zavier Brynn, Kiera and Ella; her great-great grandchildren Luke, and Evelyn as well as all of her relatives, friends and all who knew her.
