Iris Winifred Lambott, 90, Bismarck, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, from complications of Alzheimer’s. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 East Divide Ave., Bismarck, with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at 3:00 pm Thursday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Iris Perrett was born Sept. 17, 1928, in Canterbury, Kent, England, to Ethel and Leonard Perrett. She was one of seven children. Iris grew up in England during World War II. She talked about the continuous bombings by the Germans and spending a lot of time in underground shelters. After the war she went to work at her Aunt’s Candy Shoppe. Later she worked for a Tea House. During the Korean War, England still had its share of American Soldiers to catch a young lady’s eye and the story Iris loved to tell the most was the one about the chivalrous soldier who escorted her home on the last bus for the evening and had to take a cab back to the barracks. Another one of her favorites was of this same soldier signing up for another tour just to get to know her better. That soldier was Keith Lambott. They were married in Canterbury, England Nov. 11, 1953. Iris came to the States with Keith where they had five children. She was a stay-at-home Mom until her youngest started first grade in 1970. She then held a job at Red Owl Bakery in Jamestown. She worked there for several years, walking back and forth to work as we only had one family car, and she did not have a driver’s license. Later, she got a job in the offices of White Drug, Jamestown, where she worked until 1979. In the summer of 79, she moved with her husband and youngest daughter to Bismarck. Iris worked for Capitol Hearing Aid Service of Bismarck from 1981 to 1991. She then worked for the Green Thumb Agency until the late 90s when she decided to retire. After a few months of retirement and becoming bored, she got a job as a customer support rep at Sykes Enterprises and was there until 2004. Mom enjoyed helping people set up their internet connections and the customers loved talking to her as well. There were a few things Iris had a passion for, shopping and interacting with people. Iris had a quick wit, a kind and compassionate spirit, and easily got along with everyone she talked with. The other was going to her English Club. She met her two best friends there, Ann and Edna. They would often meet for lunches, and when at home, Mom would be on the phone talking to one or the other of them about politics. Iris loved to watch politics on CNN. She even watched Bill O’Reilly on Fox News and considering she was a democrat that was a shocker. Mom also loved animals, cats especially. Iris greatly enjoyed, and was sometimes exasperated by, her children’s misadventures at times and was always quick to impart life’s important lessons. She will be missed by her three sons, Larry (Margarita), Philippines, David and Steven, Bismarck; her two daughters, Carol (Joel) Evenson, Bird Island, Minn., and Theresa Lambott, Bismarck; her grandchildren, Heather Lambott, Ashford, Ala., and Chandler Lambott, Pace, Fla.; her great-grandchildren, Hayden and Braxton, Ashford, Ala.; and her sister, Elizabeth Perrett in Belgium; plus her many nieces and nephews in England. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Keith (Nov. 18, 1997); her siblings, Pamela, Joan, Sylvia, Mary and Lionel; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the Central Dakota Humane Society.
