Irma was born September 1, 1933 in Zurich, Switzerland, to parents Irma (Valsangiacomo) and Hans Hausammann. Irma was raised and educated in Switzerland. She came to America in 1952 with only an apple in her pocket, and speaking very little English. She was hired as a nanny in Tucson, Arizona where she met Ted Fleck, while he was stationed there in the service. Irma married Ted Fleck on August 8, 1953. They had six children together: Doreen, Roy, Richard, Teddy, David, and Shawn. They later divorced.
Upon Ted completing his Air Force career as a Tech Sergeant, they and their family moved to Bismarck, North Dakota.
Irma had a career in Restaurant Management. She worked at several well-known restaurants in Bismarck such as Kirkwood Motor Inn, The Pepper Mill, and the Elks. She loved to travel, enjoyed fine restaurants, entertaining, cooking, reading, and most important to her was spending time with her family.
Irma had a great sense of humor and even at the age of 90, she was young at heart. Irma was adored and loved by everyone who ever met her. Her beautiful smile lit up any room she entered. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and anyone who ever met her.
She is survived by her children: Doreen Burdick, Bismarck; Roy (Micki) Fleck, San Antonio, Texas; Richard (Pat) Fleck, Bismarck; Teddy (Jillian Slack) Fleck, Springfield, Missouri; David (Cathy Clark-Fleck) Fleck, Edmond, Oklahoma; and Shawn (Missy) Fleck, Springfield, Missouri. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Brandon and Dustin Fleck; Chelsie (Tim) Boeshans, Richard Fleck, Jr.; Cory, Garrett, and Gavin Fleck; Kyla and Kallie Fleck, and Kristina Kainz, and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Adler, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Richardo Hausammann, Edwin Hausammann, and Gary Adler, infant son Donald, son-in-law, Wayne Burdick, and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Fleck.
