Ivan Blackcloud, 85, passed away April 7, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Bismarck.
In honor of Ivan’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
Ivan was born to Joseph Blackcloud and Elizabeth Houle on February 10, 1934 near Wakpala, SD. He served in the Marine Corps from 1954 to 1956. He met the love of his life, Donna, and together they raised five sons. Ivan loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed family get-togethers and was so proud of his children and grandchildren.
Ivan worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for over thirty years. During that time he lived in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, California, New Mexico, and Florida. He enjoyed working with young people and coached little league baseball teams. He also coached the Selfridge women’s softball team.
Ivan was passionate about music and shared his large collection of music and knowledge with any one wanting to listen. He played music for people in local nursing homes and was also on a local radio station as the “Wagon Master” playing music four hours on Sundays.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; their sons, Roland, Bismarck, Randy, Las Vegas, NV, Roger, Anchorage, AK, and Ron, New Town, ND; his grandchildren, Robin, Bryan, Teresa (Jessie) Maier and Abby; his great-grandson, Owen Maier; and his sister, Connie, Taylors, SC.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Ivan Jr., Robin Lewis, and Robin Robert; his parents; and his sister, Elaine.
