James R. Beaty, 90, Bismarck, ND passed away on November 25, 2023.
James donated his body to UND School of Medicine and wished for no formal services.
Jim was born December 26, 1932 in Dallas Texas to John and Josephine Powell Beaty. He attended grade school in University Park, Texas and in Gordonsville, VA while in grade school in Gordonsville he was a certified ground observer for the US Army Air Corp.
He attended high school at Fork Union Virginia Military Academy, James Barbour High school Barboursville, VA and Highland Park High School, Dallas Texas. He graduated from Virginia Polytech Institute (now Virginia Tech) in Animal Husbandry. He served in the US Army, primarily at Lawson Field, Columbus, GA. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1960, interned and residency University of Oklahoma Hospital from 1960 to 1963. He was board certified in pediatrics and in emergency medicine, main practice locations included Miles City Montana, Topeka Kansas, and Minot ND. In all those locations he was supported by wonderful nurses and lab and Xray techs.
Jim is survived by his wife Barbara Kay of 48 years; sons, James R Jr. (Cati) Mitchell, SD, Jeffrey W. (Jami) Bismarck, and Jacob P (Brie), Bismarck; daughters, Jean (Ward) Stalnaker, Shawnee KS; Jane Burgman, Leonardville, KS, and Jo Beaty; sister, Mary (Edwin) Floyd; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and wonderful friends and neighbors, including four legged friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, David Burgman and Jim’s brothers, Whitney M. Beaty, Richard D. Beaty.

The years of our marriage is approaching 48,
in all my life I have never felt so great.
Although it may not show my love for you for you will always grow & grow.
My love for you will be forever true, I hope we can share another year or two.
