James G. Dodd

James Gregory Dodd died in his home in Bismarck February 6, 2022.  He was 37 years old.  James was born March 8, 1984, in Bismarck, to Bill and Cathy Dodd. Bill and Cathy feel fortunate to have been James’ parents and love him very much.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 825 E. Broadway, Bismarck.

James grew up in Lincoln, N.D., and graduated from Bismarck High School in 2002.  He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in food safety from NDSU, graduating in 2008.  James continued his education and earned a degree in process plant technology. He worked for Ecolab, Inc. in Santa Rosa, CA, Solarbee, Inc. of Dickinson and the Marathon Refinery in Mandan.

James married the love of his life, Allison (Hesford) Dodd on August 9, 2013.  James and Allie had a wonderful life together.  They loved each other dearly and had some fantastic, memory-making vacations together.  James and Allie love their dog Kai, she was the giant apple of his eye.

James had a passion for great food and wine. He also had a keen interest in learning about history, the arts and other cultures.

James loved to travel and visited 49 states and many foreign countries. He enjoyed playing Frisbee golf with his dad, brother, nephews and many friends.  He loved hunting and fishing.  He went on many ski trips with his family and friends. He managed a fantasy football league for more than a decade. 

James enjoyed life. He was generous, loving and kind. His one-liners and quick wit could light up any room. He was quiet by nature but his personality was huge and his ability to spread good cheer was unmatched. His friends and family will miss him so very much.

James will be especially missed by his wife Allison; his parents Cathy and Bill Dodd; grandmother, Margaret Koester; his father and mother-in-law, Tom and Carolyn Hesford; his siblings, Linda (Danny) Braun, Tim (Shelby) Dodd, and Rachel (Tonka) Fischer and his nieces and nephews Kyler, Logan, Danika, Dominic, Cameron, and Keera; his sisters and brother-in-law, Jen (Shane) Tollefson, Steve (Kim) Hesford, Mike (Rochelle) Hesford and nieces and nephews Hailey, Dillon, Isaiah, Kale, Jaden and Jackson.
