Pat was born June 27, 1943 to Alois and Regina (Schwengler) Gross at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND.  He grew up there with his two sisters and brother.  After graduating from Napoleon High School, he attended Wahpeton School of Science where he received a degree in electronics.  He married Lorna Kolberg on Aug. 2, 1975, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bismarck.  Together, they had two children, Brian and Heidi.

Pat went to work at Bismarck State College and was the audio-visual coordinator and director of the Interactive Video Network for the College.  He very much enjoyed his work there, and especially the many friends and relationships formed during his time at BSC.  He retired in 2013 and continued to spend time with many of these colleagues and friends.  He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Bismarck, ND.

In 2016 his wife Lorna’s cancer returned and she ultimately passed away on Oct. 17, 2018.  The loss of his wife was extremely difficult on him and much of him died with her.

His daughter, Heidi Gross, resides in Portland, Ore., as a First Lieutenant in the Oregon National Guard.  She is preparing for deployment to Kosovo. His son Fr. Brian Gross, is pastor of Epiphany Catholic Church in Watford City, ND and Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in Alexander, ND.

Pat is survived by his two sisters and brother,  Alvina Campbell, Bismarck; Margie (John) Bitz, Napoleon; and Alvin (Carolyn) Gross, Bismarck.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
