James "Jim" Hildebrand

January 2, 1942 — June 6, 2019

James Patrick Hildebrand, 77, Bismarck, passed away on June 6, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones at Sanford Hospital. He was born in Alhambra, California January 2, 1942.

Join us for a celebration of Jim’s life at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 11 at Living Hope Church of the Nazarene, 1826 N 8th St, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday June 10 at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 East Divide Ave, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00. Please bring stories to share at the 7:00 prayer service.

He will receive full military honors beginning at 2:00 pm on Tuesday June 11th at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, 1825 46th St, Mandan, ND.

At a young age Jim and a group of ND boys joined the Marine Corps together. Jim was stationed in Korea and Japan and honorably discharged in 1963. There has never been a person more proud to defend and protect his country. Every day was an opportunity to display his flag, his service and his love for the U.S.A.

Jim gave his life and devotion to his “wife-like person”, Donna McCann, completing her life with his wit and wisdom. His little dog Sammy was an everyday companion treated as his best friend.

The perfect career for his large and outgoing personality was as a top salesman at the Carpet Garage. He enjoyed people and went out of his way to make them laugh, knowing his gift was to make them happy. His garden, flowers and yard were great entertainment and pride for him. He enjoyed canning his produce and sharing with his family and friends.

He was a proud and active member of the Living Hope Church of the Nazarene, greeting everyone with a huge hug, handshake and high fives for the kids.

He is survived by partner, Donna McCann; his children, Stacey, Grant, Darrin and Todd; siblings, Del (Lucy) Hildebrand, Dennis (Jan) Hildebrand, Mike (Margie) Hildebrand and Cheryl (John) Loerch; several grandchildren; 3 great granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara (Kopp) Hildebrand, and parents Delmar and MaryEllen Hildebrand.
