James (Jim) Myron Link passed away June 19, 2017, at his home in Hampton, MN, after a battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Sharon Korsmo officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. Jim was born January 11, 1951, in Bismarck, ND, the son of Walter and Elda (Pfennig) Link. He was raised in Driscoll, and attended grade school and most of high school in Driscoll, graduating from Bismarck High School . He attended Bismarck State College before pursuing various occupations before becoming a boilermaker. He married Donna Hoffman on March 20, 1971. That union resulted in two daughters, Billijo Marie, St. Paul, Minnesota, and Lezlie Nicole Link Scott, Bismarck, ND. They later divorced and he spent the next 30 years with his partner, Nolie Freeman in Hampton, Minnesota. Jim was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilmakers, Lodge 647. He worked at various power plants and stations around the North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin areas. He was a Master Gardener and grew many fruit and nut trees that will continue to bear fruit for many years. He also had a wonderful, large shop for building and working on cars, trucks and machinery. Jim would invite friends and neighbors for meals that he cooked; especially German meals, along with baking bread. He had a great love of animals and he and Nolie, volunteered at a local rescue shelter for many years. Jim is survived by his partner of 30 years Nolie Freeman, Hampton, Minnesota; his daughters, Billijo Link, St. Paul, MN, Lezlie (Parker) Scott, a grandson Ranger Scott; his mother, Elda Link; three sisters, LaRue (Robert) Odenbach, Jamestown, Marvel Lue (Harold) Harter, Bismarck and Sharon Link, Fargo. He is also survived by one niece; six nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter John Link; aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would prefer memorials to Central Dakota Humane Society, 2104 37th Street, Mandan, ND 58554.
