Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, September 30, at Little Forks Cemetery, Hatton, ND. Jim was born February 21, 1957, in Hillsboro, ND. He is the son of Douglas and Corrine Ludwig. He attended Hillsboro High School, graduating in 1975. After graduation Jim attended North Dakota State College of Science in Wapheton, ND and earned a Diesel Mechanic Degree. Jim married Karla Schneider on June 9, 1984. They have two beautiful daughters, Sarah and Rebecca. His daughters were his pride and joy and he was very proud of what they had accomplished in their lives. Jim is so proud of his red-headed granddaughter, Kallie. He wanted to show her off every chance he got and wanted to make sure everyone knew she had red hair just like he did. He worked for 15 years at Butler Machinery before spending 25 years at BNI Coal, where he recently retired at the end of June. Jim’s greatest pastime was riding and working on his Harleys. He bought his first motorcycle at 16 years old and was hooked ever since. He loved to ride and attend the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally every year and go on motorcycle rides with his good buddies. He and Karla also went on numerous bike runs, including his favorite supporting the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Jim also had a passion for camping, fishing, and hunting. Jim and Karla would often be found in the summer at Beaver Bay near Linton, ND, camping with friends and family. Jim enjoyed leisurely fishing and taking his beloved daughters out on the boat. Jim would love to remember his favorite pastime, by having anyone who owns a motorcycle bring it to the service so after he can ride off to his final resting place remembering the greatest sound of all time, the roar and thunder of a Harley. Jim will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife, Karla Ludwig, Bismarck; his two daughters, Sarah (Kris) Marsh, Eden Prairie, MN, and Rebecca (Gary) Cayko, Mandan, ND; his cherished granddaughter, Kallie Marsh; sister, Lori (Tom) Tweten; and brother-in-law, Dan Jorgensen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery Foundation in Mandan, ND.
