Janice G. Hunt, age 94, of Mandan passed away on May 14, 2024.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 8, at First Lutheran Church, 800 N 7th St, Bismarck. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3225 Highway 20, Jamestown, ND.
Janice was born on December 29, 1929, in Jamestown, ND to Arnold and Alice (Peterson) Lee.
Janice graduated from Jamestown High School in 1947.
Janice met and married the love of her life, Harold Hunt, on June 6, 1948.
Janice worked for many years at Melroe Manufacturing. After retiring, she was employed at the State Penitentiary in Bismarck. Janice would often volunteer for the State Historical Society of North Dakota in the North Dakota Heritage Center where she worked at the information desk helping visitors and in the Museum Store. She eventually was employed by the Society and the museum store.
Janice enjoyed baking cookies and sharing those baked goods with friends, neighbors, and co-workers. She also spent her time knitting and painting on canvas.
Family was very important to Janice, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Janice had a Heart of Gold.
Janice is survived by her sons, Michael (Deb) Hunt of Florence, AZ, and Mathew Hunt of Bismarck; granddaughters, Christy (Chad) Johnson of Grand Forks, ND, and Aimee (Quintin) Smith of Mapleton, ND; great-grandchildren, Avery Johnson, Sydney Johnson, Carson Mitchell, and Elliot Mitchell; brother, Peter Lee of Fort Worth, TX; sister-in-law, Doreen Lee of Fargo, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janice was preceded by her husband, Harold; parents, brother, James Lee; sister, Karen Hilsgen; sister-in-law, LaVerne Hunt; and brother-in-law, Howard Hunt.
Memorials may be made out to First Lutheran Church.
