Janice Marko-Spivey

Janice (Juhala) Marko-Spivey, the beloved wife of the late Preston William (Bill) Spivey, resident of Aynor, SC, passed away on May 15, 2017. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 19, at Union Cemetery, Trygg Township, ND. Jan, who recently celebrated her 71st birthday, was born May 8, 1946, to Einard and Lenora (Hedstrom) Juhala in Bismarck, ND. She attended a one room school house in Ghylin Township, ND for her elementary years and graduated from Wilton High School in 1964. After two years at the University of North Dakota, Jan moved to Michigan where she received her bachelor’s degree from Saginaw Valley State University in 1969. Later she moved to Kentucky and went to work for Armor Elevator. After the company merged, she moved to Rock Island, IL as the Litigation Case Manager at KONE, Inc. She later moved to South Carolina, and worked for Singleton, Burroughs & Young, P.A., until her retirement in 2014. Jan was a loving and devoted mom, stepmom, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, Andrew Marko (Cathy) of Glenview, IL; her step-daughter Shannon Spivey, of Louisville, KY; her step-son, Preston W. Spivey, III (Mary), 3 grandchildren, Aaron, Brenton, Mathew (Lindsey) and 2 great-grandchildren of Columbia, SC & Germany; her brother, Wayne Juhala of Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada; and other extended family. Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Preston W. "Bill" Spivey, Jr.; her parents, Einard and Lenora Juhala; her brothers, Donald Juhala and Laveryl Juhala; as well as many cousins and close friends.
