Jeanne was born on October 27, 1956 to Douglas and Mary Karhoff. Jeanne graduated from Des Lacs Burlington High School in 1974 where she participated in band, basketball, and cheerleading. She furthered her education, graduating from Mary College with a degree in Social Work. She received her Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from St. Benedicts in Minnesota.
As a young girl, she was involved in 4H and was an ambassador for many years and received numerous awards. Jeanne was a social worker and counselor in the Bismarck School System for almost 30 years. During her time as a counselor, Jeanne was involved with many young boys and girls. She was instrumental in taking boys and girls on many hiking and backpacking trips to Medora and Bear Tooth Mountains in Montana. Many of these students were greatly appreciative of Jeanne touching their lives in a positive way. She was also involved in many tobacco coalition groups.
Jeanne was very fond of animals, especially horses, cats, and dogs. Through the years, she adopted many stray dogs and cats. She always made sure they were neutered and spayed. There wasn’t a dog or cat that needed loving care that she wouldn’t take in.
Among her hobbies were gardening and flowers. She spent many hours in her garden and flower beds. This trait was passed down from her mother with whom she had a strong relationship. Music was another of her hobbies. She could play the clarinet, guitar, mandolin, and harmonica.
Jeanne was a lady of strong faith and always believed in God’s will. She viewed the world through a holistic way – trying to take care of the mind, body, and soul.
She is survived by her brother John (Patty) Karhoff; nephews Shane (Sarah) Karhoff and their children Wesley and Oscar, BJ (Rachel) Karhoff and their children Brycen, Tenley, and Teagan; nieces, Ticia Karhoff, Deidre (Jordan) Cooper and their daughter Vyah, all are of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim Karhoff, and paternal and maternal grandparents.
