Jerome "Jerry" Zins

Jerome "Jerry" Michael Zins, 78, McKenzie, ND passed away March 30th, 2024 after a long 16-year battle with cancer.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday May 10, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.

A time of gathering will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, May 9, at Parkway Funeral Service. 

Jerry was born June 9th, 1945, in Bismarck to Eugene and Lucy (Kuntz) Zins of Raleigh, ND. He graduated from St. Gertrude’s High School in 1963 and attended Dickenson State University for two years. Jerry also worked road construction a number of years. He married Beverly Kubler on October 25th,1966.

At age 21, Jerry became manager of Mandan’s “Pierce Mobile Home Sales.” After six years of selling Mobile Homes for Pierce Inc. Jerry and Bev Zins and Will and Pat Simpfenderfer formed a partnership and created “Zins Inc.” in Mandan. They were involved in selling Mobile Homes for over 42 years. They were owners of “Frontier Mobile Home Park” in Mandan and a Mobile Home Park in Alabama. Jerry was a very long active member of the “North Dakota Manufacture Housing Association.” Another venture they had together was owning and operating “Frontier Bar and Discount Liquor Store” in Mandan for 12 years.

In 1980, after living in Bismarck for 15 years, farmland was purchased north of McKenzie, ND. Soon after this a farming and ranching operation was started. Jerry’s choice of cattle was Black Angus. Bev and Jerry raised these cattle up to butcher weight and sold the beef meat directly to customers they personally came to know. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, working with the cattle, and putting hay up. He also loved gardening and watching the vegetables grow.

Jerry is survived by his son, Jamie; granddaughter, Ava; sisters, Veronica (Dave) Miller, Martha Williams; brothers, Bernard (Jenny) Zins, Leo Zins, David Zins, Simon (Charlene) Zins, and Arnold (Maryann) Zins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly (Kubler) Zins; parents, Eugene and Lucy (Kuntz) Zins; sisters, Marie and Gertrude Zins; brothers, Aloyisus, Roger, and Francis Zins.
