Jerry Duane Fiedler

Jerry Duane Fiedler passed away peacefully with his family alongside him on May 28, 2019, at his home at the age of 72.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 1:00 pm, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, ND. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, at 3:00 pm.

Jerry was born on July 20, 1946 in Garrison, ND; he went to school in McClusky, ND and went on to serve in the Marines as a Tank Crewman in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970. Following his honorable discharge he moved to Bismarck where he met his wife Danna. Jerry decided to go back to school in Cheyenne, WY to be an aircraft mechanic. Jerry worked until retirement for the Army Aviation Support Facility in Bismarck on their C-12 aircraft. When his fourth grandchild was born, he retired to help Danna with “Grandma Care” taking care of the grandkids. When he made this choice, he said there wasn’t much better than being a parent but being Grandpa was one of those things and he didn’t want to miss anymore time with his grandkids.

Jerry enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. He tended his garden and looked forward to the first tomato of the year and baking rhubarb pies. Jerry loved reading and doing crossword puzzles.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Danna Fiedler (Albrecht); his children, Josh (Erin) Fiedler and Kristi (Bob) Thune; his grandchildren, Avery, Emma, Evan, Sophia, Olivia and Kallan; his brother, Wes (Marilyn) Fiedler; sister Patricia (Paul) Thacker; his brothers-in-law, Wayne (Valerie) Albrecht, Steve Albrecht; sister-in-law, Terri (Scott) Albrecht; his mother-in-law, Carol Albrecht; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ruth Fiedler; along with his father-in-law, Harvey Albrecht.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Bismarck Cancer Center.
