Jesse Janko of Kintyre passed away on January 27, 2025 at the age of 83.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, Jan. 31, 2025 at Eastgate Steele Chapel, 518 Mitchell Ave, Steele. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be held at 3:00 PM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Jesse Janko was born on November 6, 1941 to William and Ellen Kylmanen Janko on the family farm in Kintyre. He was raised on the farm and at 20 years old enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He received training as an aircraft mechanic and served in Okinawa, Japan. After the service, he went to work at Boeing in Seattle, WA before returning to the farm in 1973.
In 1974, Jesse married Phyllis Rod in Bismarck. They took over the farm and had two sons: Chad and Michael. They raised cattle, sheep, organic wheat and flax for 50 years.
Jesse loved the farm and the work on it. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Phyllis; son Michael; grandson, Hunter; granddaughter Camryn; brother, Bill (Yvonne) Janko; sisters, Marlene Janko, Jeanette (Lyle) Petersen; sister-in-law, Michelle Janko and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Chad; his parents and brother, Chuck.
