John Glatt, 80, passed away on September 14 at CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND after a two-year battle with cancer.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm Thursday, September 19, at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 519 Raymond St., Bismarck. Visitation will start at 11:30 am in the church foyer.
Burial will be at the ND Veterans Cemetery, Mandan at 3:00 pm
John Glatt was born August 6, 1939 in Napoleon, ND, to Anton and Veronica (Schutt) Glatt. He attended school in Napoleon. John served in the U.S. Army from December 1962 to November 1964 achieving the rank of Specialist 4. John married Theresa (Schwartzenberger) on June 10, 1961 in Napoleon, ND. In 1966 they moved to Bismarck where John was employed with Bridgeman Dairy/Land O’Lakes, retiring with 35 years of service. After his retirement, John filled his spare time working at VFW and for the last 9 years he worked at Menards as an early morning shelf stocker, a job he enjoyed doing and only left earlier this year when his health didn’t allow him to work any longer.
John is survived by his wife Theresa, four children John (Kathy) Glatt, Connie (Duane) Fleckenstein, Bonnie Lahr, and Ronny (Diane) Glatt; grandchildren, Sarah (Brad) Davison their kids Tenley, Ella, and Sawyer, Brad (Jacenta) Fleckenstein their children Rihanna, Amyah, Remi and Anistyn, Kaitlyn (Stoney) Kessler their child Hadlee, Stephanie, Steven, Edynn, Ronnee, and Cullen Glatt, Peyton and Hailey Lahr, John’s 5 siblings along with their families and Theresa’s 7 siblings along with their families.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Alvin Glatt; sister, Marion Bosch; and son-in-law, Rich Lahr.
In-lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations sent to ND Veterans Cemetery, Bismarck Cancer Center or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to express their thanks to Ione, Helen, Mac and Barb who fought this fight with us with continued love and never-ending support.
