John Leintz, age 89, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2017, at Missouri Slope Nursing Home, Bismarck, North Dakota. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, June 16, at Church of St. Mary, 806 E. Broadway Ave, Bismarck, with Rev. Paul Becker officiating.Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, June 15, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a vigil/rosary service will begin at 7:00 pm.Burial will be held at 3:00 pm Friday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.John was born on July 20, 1927, at Brisbane, North Dakota. He attended school at Brisbane and lived on a small family farm. When John was 15, his parents, Felix and Braxada Leintz with his family moved to Bismarck, North Dakota. One of his first jobs was delivering milk to many area Bismarck residents. Four years later he served in the U.S. Marines from 1946-1948. When he came home from the service he moved back down to the family farm where he met his beloved wife, Margie (Marceline) Ternes. On June 20, 1950 they were united in marriage at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church Raleigh, North Dakota where they continued to farm, raise cattle and hogs. John loved to play softball when he was younger, attend daily mass, read westerns, play cards, garden and take care of flowers, watch TV, fish, camp with the family, woodworking, and attend his children's school/sport activities. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a very hard worker, gentle, loving and a very giving person. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. John is survived by his children and their spouses, Marcy Leintz of Bismarck, ND, Mary (Roger) of Dickinson, ND, John (Janet) Leintz of Sidney, MT, Garvin (Leslie) of Sidney, MT, Myron (Deb) Leintz of Grassy Butte, and Jay (Jill) Leintz of Bismarck, ND; ten grandchildren, Kelly Wollschlager, John (Carly) Wollschlager, Amber (Jeremy) Horwitz, Domanick and ( Samantha) Leintz, Leslie Marie ( John) Patterson, Garvin Humberto (Janelle) Leintz, Garvin Eugene Leintz, Lindsey Ann McLinden, Ashley (Brennen) Morrell, Amanda Leintz; 12 great-grandchildren, Austin Wollschlager, Coby James, Jordan James, Kimberly McLinden, Deklan Wollschlager, Vance Wollschlager, Jamesen Wollschlager, Adriene Leintz, Lena Rae Leintz, Hadley Leintz, Korben Horwitz and Declan Leintz; his sisters, Katie Dressler and Rose Shobe; brother, Adam Leintz and sister-in-law, Janet Leintz. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margie; son, Lloyd; his parents, Felix and Braxada Leintz; sisters; Helen Fergel, Clara Shobe, Anne Wikenheiser; and brothers, Lazarius (Ed) Leintz and Mike Leintz.
