John Myers

July 5, 1951 — September 20, 2019

John David Myers, 68, Bismarck, ND passed away unexpectedly during a battle with cancer on Friday, September 20, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 28, 11:00 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy Bismarck, ND 58503 with Pastor Ron Klein officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

John was born on July 5, 1951 in New York City, where he was lovingly adopted by Calvin and Kathleen (Sheehy) Myers. He attended parochial elementary school while living in Rosedale, Long Island. After the passing of his mother, John, at age 10, and his father moved to Bismarck which became their permanent residence. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from St. Mary’s Central High School in 1970. He was active in football, wrestling, and baseball. He went on to attend Bismarck Junior College.

On October 27, 1973, John married Audrey Harsch in Mott, ND. They were blessed with almost 46 years of marriage, two wonderful children, Shanna and Ryan, and later an adorable grandson, Kirby. Family was John’s pride and joy. He loved spending time together with them, where he sometimes could be found riding roller coasters and white-water river rafting to help create those special family memories.  He was also an avid sports fan, cheering on his favorite teams the Twins and the Vikings (sometimes switching over to the Patriots). He enjoyed golfing with his friends and family, had an infectious laugh, never taking anything too serious except maintaining the vehicles and yard which were meticulously kept.  His easygoing, kind and caring spirit were a part of his personality that drew others around him.

John’s career was always in sales, which led to his true passion in real estate. His 33 years of real estate experience, most recently with Bianco Realty, were in the Bismarck-Mandan area where he prided himself in providing his clients with superior customer service. He knew that selling or buying a home is one of the largest and more exciting decisions a person will make and wanted the process as pleasant and stress-free as possible. Most importantly, he was a true friend, colleague and inspiration to others and always had good advice on any real estate issues, or life, in general. He was an active member of a number of real estate organizations, which included the National Association of Realtors, ND Association of Realtors, Bismarck-Mandan Multiple Listing Service, Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce, Bismarck-Mandan Development Association, Bismarck-Mandan Home Builders Association, Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), and Graduate Realtors Institute (GRI).

He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Myers; daughter, Shanna Nordeen and grandson, Kirby Nordeen, Farmington, MN; son, Ryan Myers (Ari and Avery Alvarez), Scottsdale, AZ; mother-in-law, Eleanor Harsch, Bismarck; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Willard and Jeannette Harsch, Bismarck and Loren and Lavonn Hanson, Fergus Falls, MN; cousins, Mavis Fuher, Lyda Scharnowske, and Lyn (Lou) Biederstedt, Bismarck, ND; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Kathleen Myers; father-in-law, John Harsch; and son-in-law, Josh Nordeen.
