Jonathan “Jon” Evanenko, 37, Mandan, died May 21, 2018. Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, May 29, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Monday, May 28, at Eastgate Funeral Service. Jon was born January 2, 1981, in Bismarck, ND, to Bob and Charlene Evanenko. He was raised in Baldwin, ND, attended Brentwood Seventh Day Adventist Elementary School in Bismarck, and continued his education at Wilton High School. Jon had many diverse talents. From an early age he enjoyed the spotlight, which was evident when he would join his brothers and sisters on stage to sing special music for church. He was very imaginative and always entertained his teachers in school with the different stories he would write. Jon also enjoyed drawing and when he was 10 created a comic book called, “It’s Just an Alligator Dear” that was critiqued by a local artist. He had a knack for computers and computer programming, he even taught his teachers in elementary school how to use the new computers. This continued on into high school and he was employed at the age of 15 with Sykes because of how knowledgeable he was about computers. As an adult, Jon expanded his interests to include carpentry and cooking. He enjoyed the companionship of his beloved dog, Deeoge, who never left his side. Jon is survived by his son, Slade Schatz; mother, Charlene Evanenko; brothers, Jason Evanenko and Justin Evanenko; sisters, Jennifer (Donaven) Palahniuk, Jessica Evanenko, and Jaylene (Jordan) Vliet; and well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Spencer Evanenko; father, Robert “Bob” Evanenko; and his grandparents, Phillip and Ruby Evanenko, Jerald and Delores Middaugh.
