Joseph Volk, 59, passed peacefully Sept. 2, 2020 at his home in Bismarck surrounded by his family and friends.
Joe was a fun loving person who had a passion for music. Music transported Joe to his happy place. He loved going to concerts, sharing his music with others and playing his tunes at various events. His passion was fulfilled as a DJ and earned him his nickname of "DJ Duck." He had a natural ability to liven up a party with his personality and his music.
He was also an avid sports fan and faithfully followed all his favorite teams. He enjoyed watching Demolition Derby and the stock car races, fishing, bowling and participating in Uno Tournaments.
Joe treasured being part of the larger community. He was part of Pride, Inc, Ramkota Hotel and McQuades Recycle. He volunteered at a host of community events. For almost 40 years he participated in the Elk’s annual summer Camp Grassick where he made many new friends over the years.
He had a heart of gold and deeply touched the lives of many. We were blessed to call Joe "family" and "friend." He will remain a part of us forever.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Betty (Wilt) and John Volk; and his oldest, brother David Wilt.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Adam and Patricia Volk, San Diego, Calif., and their daughters and daughter-in-law, Michele, Mary, Tanya and Christine; his brother, Mike Volk; sister and brother-in-law, Ida and Richard Reisenauer, Bismarck, and their son, his wife and daughter, Allan, Melissa, and Brooklyn Reisenauer; aunts, Annie Bradford, Mary Volk; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
