Judith “Judy” Kathryn (Braxmeyer) Hoffmann, 80, Bismarck, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 9, 2021 after struggles with ongoing health issues. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15 at St. Anne’s Church, Bismarck, with Fr. Kadrmas as celebrant.
Burial will be held 1 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, for immediate family only.
A visitation open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14 at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck.
Judy was born June 10, 1940, to William “Bill” and Kathryn “Kay” (Lane) Braxmeyer in Bismarck at St. Alexius Hospital and was raised in Solen. She later attended St. Mary’s Central High School in Bismarck, then graduated in 1957 from Mount Saint Benedict Academy in Crookston, Minnesota. She worked for a couple of years at the State of North Dakota for the late Senator Bill Langer before marrying Peter “Pete” John Hoffmann on Jan. 17, 1959.
Judy was a stay-at-home mom who enjoyed reading, ceramics and hosting family gatherings. She loved spending summers at their cabin at Brush Lake. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Later in life, Judy liked to travel. She and her special friend, the late Mike Walsh, had many adventures traveling the U.S. in an R.V.
Judy will be deeply missed by her daughters, Renae (Dwayne) Hoffmann Walker, Teri (Galen) Halverson and Dawn Brady; five grandchildren, Ariana (Levi) Kinnischtzke, Bismarck, Amanda (Brian) Chaska, Bismarck, Brad (Amanda) Halverson, Edmond, Okla., Audrey (Clark) Dingeman, Bismarck, and Shanda Miller, Bismarck; as well as step-grandchildren, Ryan (Kara) Walker, St. Michael, Minn., and Heidi (Matt) Gartner, Bismarck. She also loved her 13 great-grandchildren: Damon, Cameron, Tristan, Paige, Jaxon, Mariah, Natalie, Nolan, Eli, Noah, Jimmy, Halaina and Ben.
She is also survived by her sister, Corrine (Gary) Jochim, Mandan; and brother, Jerry “Mike” (Gloria) Braxmeyer, Bismarck.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and special friend, Mike Walsh.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Judy Hoffmann to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, St. Anne’s Church or the Burleigh County Senior Center meal delivery program.
