Kaj Christensen, 73, Mandan, passed away June 13, 2017, at Sanford Health, Bismarck.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 17, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. Cremation has taken place.Kaj Erik Christensen was born on December 19, 1943, in Skagen, Denmark to Dan and Magdalene (Nielsen) Christensen. He was baptized at the Skagen Lutheran Church In January 1944. He and his family came to America in 1948 when Kaj was 4 years old. The family moved to a farm near Barrett, MN, for a short time where Kaj attended country school. The family then moved to a farm southwest of Morris. He was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Morris, MN. Kaj attended and graduated from Morris High School, class of 1961. Kaj loved football and played on the high school football team. After graduation from high school, Kaj enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving 4 years. Kaj was honorably discharged. On February 14, 1985, Kaj married Rebecca and became an instant father to her two children, Bekki and Josh. March of 1987, Dan was born and completed Kaj’s family. Kaj loved spending time with his family and his dogs. He spent most of his working career driving semis for various trucking companies. Kaj is survived by his wife, Rebecca; son, Dan (Chelsea), Bismarck, daughter, Bekki (Stu) Scotto, Fortuna, CA, and son, Josh (Lynell) Scotto, Reno, NV; and two beautiful granddaughters, Daphne Scotto and Letty Christensen. He is also survived by one brother, Knute (Rosy) Christensen of Morris, MN; two sisters Esther (Gorden) Thompson of Cyrus, MN, and Birte Christensen of Sun City, AZ; nieces, Karen (Richard) Johnson, Morris, MN, Pam (Greg) Moll, Moorhead, MN, Mona (John) Dickey, Donnelly, MN; nephews, Paul (Sherry) Thompson, Starbuck, MN, John (Deb) Thompson, Starbuck, MN, Joel Thompson, Cyrus, MN, and Jeff Moser, Mankato, MN; and many great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Magdalene Christensen; one sister, Ruth Moser; brother-in-law, Donald Moser; and nephews Philip and David Moser and Kris Christensen.
