Karen Reuther

Karen Lea Reuther, 69, Bismarck ND passed away August 18, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at Sanford Health. Family will greet visitors from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m Tuesday August 22, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, ND, where a prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 106 Osage Ave, Bismarck, ND. Karen was born November 17, 1947 in Bismarck ND, the daughter of Conrad and Ida (Bentz) Presser. She was the younger of two siblings. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1965. She began her working career at Q & R Clinic in Medical Records. She worked there for 22 years. She then went to JDJ Insulation cutting patterns for blankets for power plants. She worked there for 14 years. At both jobs she created life long friendships that she deeply valued. Before she retired, she was employed with Bismarck Public Schools. Karen and Wayne married May 25, 1979. They then raised their children Kimberly (Goehring) and Craig (Schauer) in Bismarck. After several years of city living, they purchased a farm North West of New Salem. They lived on the farm from 1986 through 2006. In 2006 they moved back to Bismarck as they originally planed. Karen and Wayne knew each other for 40 years and were happily married for 38 loving years. During the years of Karen and Wayne being retired they enjoyed traveling together. They would travel to AZ for a few months out of the winter seeing old friends and family. They would return back to ND and would continue camping trips in the summer. Even if the camping trip was a few blocks away from where they lived, or in another surrounding state. Karen enjoyed crocheting, and occasionally knitting doilies. This hobby of hers was her way of relaxing and it was calming to her. She crocheted many blankets & potholders. She truly enjoyed making baby blankets for gifts or blankets for her family & friends.  She loved having family over. It warmed her heart to have that special bonding time with her loved ones. She had the best Knoephla soup and Christmas cookies that were enjoyed by many. Karen was a kind & loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandma, aunt and friend. She cherished her time with her family and most recently her time with her great grandson Jackson. Karen is survived by her husband Wayne; her daughter & son-in-law, Kim & Mike Goehring, Lincoln ND, her son Craig Schauer, Bismarck ND, Grandchildren Amanda (Darren), Amber, Samantha Bismarck ND, Jason (Morgan), Brian, Kayla, Sarah, Laura, Bismarck ND. Great Grandson Jackson.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad & Ida Presser, son, Robert A. Schauer, sister, Patty Martel.
