Bismarck

Susie “Karen” Schneibel, 68, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Christmas Eve., Dec. 24, 2023, after a short hard-fought battle with her cancer disease.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, January 3, at Evangel, 3225 N 14th St., Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00PM with a prayer service starting at 7:00PM, Tuesday, January 2 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.

Susie was born in Rugby, ND on March 18, 1955 to Robert and Marlene Jorgenson. She grew up on the family farm, graduating from Rugby High School in 1973. She went on to work at Johnson Clinic as a nursing aide and also helped grandma Dora as a waitress at McQuire’s Café in Rugby. She then worked for Merchants Bank as a teller.

It was 1975 at Darrell’s cousin’s wedding that began an amazing love affair which involved dancing the night away. Dancing continued on a weekly basis from then on, sometimes two or even three nights a week. Susie and Darrell got engaged on February 14th in 1976 and married on June 11, 1976. In July, 1986 Susie and Darrell adopted a gorgeous little girl and named her Jacey.

In 1977 they settled in Bismarck where Susie worked at a bank now known as Wells Fargo. She then worked for about half a decade at Dayton’s Department store, all the while envisioning an enterprise all her own. Following her dream, Susie built her business, Suzy Homemaker from her compassion of caretaking, whether it be children or elderly. All of the clients she served through the business have become very dear, close family. Her caretaking ambitions went on to include everything from cleaning and laundry to lots of cooking, baking and meal preparations.

Then in 1994 a beautiful little girl named Kimmy (Layman) was born and just by happenstance Susie found herself with a new title: Nanny. Fulltime nannying was very fulfilling and gratifying for her. This time was the highlight of Susie’s career. Her involvement with four different families as a nanny in addition to her previous activities with Suzy Homemaker cultivated very close and dear family friends.

Susie also took much pleasure in travel, her latest was to Israel with the church group which she looked forward to for quite some time. Susie’s summers also involved Medora from May thru September, whether it be visiting for fun with her family, friends or volunteering, which she so very much enjoyed.

Everyone claims their loved ones were the best cook and/or baker ever. Well, her family and extended family beg to differ. Anytime there was a special meal to be prepared Susie so effortlessly went out of her way to make each one extra special. Every holiday meal so very exceptional and enjoyable. They were second to none, every time.

Susie is survived by her soulmate, Darrell; daughter, Jacey (Bill) Kramer; granddaughters, Shacey, Willow, Ellie and Sadie; sister, Penny Jorgenson, daughters, Sara Cleland, her children, Thomas and Claire and daughter, Megan Yourk; brother, Kory (Linda) Jorgenson and their daughters, Courtney Bowman, her daughter, Aria, Nicole (Willie) Paul, their sons, Beckett and Baylor and Kassie (Klay) Oland; brothers-in-law, Monte (Gayle) Schneibel, Randy (Deb) Schneibel, Gary Schneibel, Kevin (Mary Kaye) Schneibel; nephews, Dustin (April), Mike (Heidi), Ryan, Brendon, Thomas (Tyra) and Gabriel Schneibel; nieces, Jaimie (Chad) Wolfe, Angie (Jason) Jelinek, Casey (Justin) Barclay and Jennifer Schneibel as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Marlene Jorgenson; brother, Keith Jorgenson; in-laws, Maurus and Barbara Schneibel; grandparents, Emil and Helmi Haapoja and George and Dora Jorgenson

From the bottom of our hearts the family would like to thank everyone for all the prayers, thoughts and well wishes, cards, food and all the gifts Susie and family have received through this very difficult and trying time. Words cannot express the gratitude we have for each and every one of you.
