Karene Quast, 83, passed away on May 29, 2024 after a long battle with Parkinsons.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00PM, Tuesday, June 4 at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Burial will take place at Kulm Seventh Day Adventist Church Cemetery in Kulm ND.

Karene Margaret (Onstad) Quast was born October 5, 1940 in Pine City MN. The only child of Florence and Alf Onstad. Karene met Roger Quast while attending Union College in Lincoln, NE and they were married four years later on July 8, 1962.

Karene and Roger lived in Germany the first few years of their marriage as Roger was in the Army and Karene the civil service. After their time in Germany, they lived in ND and CO eventually settling in Bismarck, ND. Roger taught at BHS and Karene was a registered nurse at St. Alexius. Karene and Roger have four children, five grandchildren and many foster grandchildren.

Karene was an excellent RN, she was the director of ICU and Telemetry for many years, contributed the AirCare, TCU and purchasing of major equipment while at St. Alexius. She loved her work and her nickname of KQ, RN. Karene was an amazing person, she was loving, kind and supportive with keen intelligence and wonderful sense of humor. She was 100% Norwegian and loved gardening, quilting and animals but mostly she loved connecting with others. Karene was the best mother and wife there ever was. The loss of Karene is great and the hole she leaves is deep. We can't wait to hug her and hear her voice again when Jesus comes.

Karene is survived by her husband Roger; their children, Mark (AnnMarie) Center, ND, Michael (Lonna) Mandan ND, Marlow (Genevieve), Phoenix AZ and daughter Monee' Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Nadia, KennaDee, Michaela, Anders and Sabine and many foster grandchildren; sister-in-law, Susan (Wayne) Schlafmann; brother-in-law, Richard (Janis) Dean; nieces and nephews, Monte (Heather) Dean, Morre (Katrina) Dean, Jill (Gerard) Goven, Paul Schlafmann and Roz (Ben) Ereth.
