Kathryn Geck Dorgan passed into life’s great beyond following a brave battle with cancer on May 20, 2024. Kathy was surrounded by family, prayers and well wishes from friends around the world in her final days.
A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, May 24, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Family will begin greeting guests at 6:30 PM.
Kathy was born in Dickinson and moved with her family to Bismarck where she attended school for 12 years. Then it was on to Bismarck State and finally the University of North Dakota where she discovered her life-long love of hockey. She also managed to find time between shots on goal to graduate with a degree in English. Returning to Bismarck, Kathy worked for Bank Center First and then for the Department of Public Instruction before her retirement.
Kathy married Darrell Dorgan in 1978. The couple raised two amazing daughters who also attended UND. Kathy was an avid reader (even books others wanted censored), a person of honesty and integrity, and a world traveler who annually spent time in Europe, NYC and at a winter home in Florida. She also loved dogs and Coco, her fourth dog with husband Darrell, will miss her mom and will likely suffer from symptoms of treat withdrawal.
Kathy is survived by husband, Darrell; daughter Alexandra (Paul Smith) of Alexandria, Virginia; daughter Paige (Trevor McDaniel) of Bismarck; a wonderful granddaughter, seven-year-old Natalie McDaniel; brother Tim Geck of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and brother-in-law Tom Kilzer of Bismarck.
She was preceded in passing by parents, Clem and Barbara Geck and sisters, Anne Kilzer and Sarah Wolf.
Kathy Dorgan made the world a better place. The tears are flowing and our wife, mom, and friend is dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the University of North Dakota Alumni Scholarship Fund, 3501 University Ave Stop 8157, Grand Forks, ND, 58202.Friday, May 24, 2024
