Kay Elaine (Koenig) Liberda was born September 30, 1942 in Lake Williams, ND and passed away on August 8, 2023 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND from complications of leukemia.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 12 at First Lutheran Church, 800 N Seventh St, Bismarck, officiated by Pastor Allen Wagner. Burial at Fairview Cemetery in Lake Williams, ND to follow the service.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 PM Friday, August 11 at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck.
The daughter of Edgar and Marjorie (Peyer) Koenig, Kay attended school in Robinson, ND. She grew up to be a hard worker but made time to enjoy life as well. She relished many outdoor hobbies, such as gardening, hunting, and fishing with family. One of her greatest joys was watching her kids and grandkids participate in activities.
As the family matriarch, she loved family gatherings. Kay was an excellent cook, baker, and canner. She enjoyed sharing her culinary talents with family and friends.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Larry Koenig, and her sister Glenda (Koenig) Neustel.
Kay is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Richard Liberda, Mandan, ND; son, Monty (Linda) Liberda, Bismarck; daughter, Minty (Bryon) Belile, McClusky, ND; son, Dick Liberda, Lincoln, ND; son, Michael (Melissa) Liberda, Lincoln, ND; and daughter, Heather (Brian) Raschke, Bismarck, ND.
Kay is also survived by her grandchildren: Lisa (Jesse) Eng, Lacey (Craig) Allery, Joey Belile, James (Chasity) Belile, Rick (Tammi) Liberda, Jackie (Jason) Wall, Matthew Liberda, Gavin Raschke, Alanis Raschke, and Beau Raschke; 16 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Neil (Cathy) Koenig and Doug Koenig.

Kay was known as wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was loved.
