K.C. (Kenneth Clinton) Burgum, 71, Bismarck, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, December 18, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Family will be greeting visitors from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Sunday, December 17, at Parkway Funeral Service, and will continue one hour prior to the service. K.C. was born June 26, 1946, in Chicago, IL. He attended grade school in Riverdale, ND, and attended Garrison High School. He graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1966. In 1969, K.C. married Debbie Peterson of Garrison. They had two children, Corey Scott and Aimee Marie. K.C. was a truck driver, car salesman, business owner, and route driver. He also worked in the propane industry. His love of cars followed him all of his life. The car bug bit him the first time he got behind the wheel! His hobby of collecting die cast Hot Wheels and Matchbox found new friends with the same obsession. K.C. loved his family-they were the most important part of his life. He was so proud of his kids. And the grandkids-well, they were the icing on the cake! He always said, “There is no guarantee there will be a tomorrow, so enjoy today.” This is how he lived his life. Well done, K.C.! K.C. is survived by his wife of 48 years, Debbie; son, Corey (Barb) Burgum; daughter, Aimee (Gordon) Ekstrom; his grandchildren, Tyler Ekstrom, Chantz Reed, and Sarah and Lucas Burgum; sisters, Barbara (David) Lee, and Susan (Terry) Fugere; stepbrother, David (Virginia) Stern; stepsisters, Mary Stern Bohnenblust and Jane Stern Hodges; brother-in-law, Larry (Linda) Peterson; sisters-in-law, Donna (Roy) House, Sally (Dean) Christiansen, Jackie Grantham, Billie Kaeding, and Toni Peterson; and numerous nieces and nephews. K.C. was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine and stepfather, E.C. “Stub” Stern; stepfather, John L. Burgum; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orval and Katheleen “Kitty” Peterson; and nephew, Cote Fugere.
