Larry Dean Sackman, 63, of Bismarck, ND, passed away on August 28, 2019 in his home due to complications of severe lung disease.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, August 31, at Church of Ascension, 1825 S 3rd St., Bismarck, with Rev. Msgr. James Braaten officiating. Burial will be held at St. Katherine’s Cemetery in Braddock, ND.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday, August 30, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm.

He was born on June 21, 1956, the son of Jacob (Jake) Sr. and Shirley (Hannon) Sackman in Bismarck, ND. Larry was raised and educated in Bismarck, ND. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1975. Following graduation, he began working in the construction industry. He enjoyed many years of operating a bobcat at B&E Excavating.

On June 3, 1977, he married the love of his life Kathleen Sofia Glovich in Braddock, ND. Together they had 3 beautiful daughters – Ann, Lisa, and Carri.

He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors camping, fishing, hunting, and gardening until his health declined in 2007. He also enjoyed plastic canvas work making beautiful projects up until his death. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was known to many children, not only his grandchildren, as “Papa”. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife, daughters, sons-in-law and 6 grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathleen; his daughters Dr. Ann (Les ) Hoff of Minot; Lisa (Jason) Stieg of Bismarck; Carri (Justin) Wilson of Bismarck; his 6 grandchildren, Leah Hoff; Nicholas and Cali Stieg; Jacob, James, and Cambry Wilson; his sisters, Linda (Ronnie) Moffit; Lana (Dave) Sabot; Mary Pittsley; Donna (Phillip) Brookins; his brother, Roger (Tammy) Sackman; his father-in-law, John Glovich; his brother-in-law, Darrell Glovich; his sisters-in-law, Lonnie (Mark) Kuipers; Brenda Vasichek; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Sr. and Shirley; his mother-in-law, Caroline Glovich; his brother, Jacob Jr.; his sister-in-law, Audrey Sackman; his brother-in-law Leroy Pittsley; and his brother-in-law, Jeff Vasichek.
