Laura June Grundhauser, 87, passed onto her eternal reward on Friday, July 28, 2017. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST, Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England, ND. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, New England. Visitation will be held Monday, July 31, 2017, from 1:00-7:00 pm with a vigil/rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, ND. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to Mass at the church. Laura June Stagl was born June 5, 1930, on the Jung Family Farm in Hettinger County, to Frank Stagl and Elizabeth (Jung) Stagl. She was raised and educated in New England except for the five years the family lived in Tigard, Oregon. She attended New England St. Mary’s and graduated in 1948. Laura received her teaching certificate from Dickinson Teacher’s College and taught in rural schools until her marriage to Joseph Peter (J.P.) Grundhauser. They were married on October 11, 1949, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New England, ND. Laura and JP lived northeast of New England where they farmed and ranched raising their four children, Larry, Janet, Nancy and Carol along with their nephew, Leland Doe, who joined them in 1966. Laura worked alongside her husband on the farm as well as being active in the community, church and school. She was a talented seamstress creating clothing for her daughters, along with wedding attire, Baptismal gowns for her grandchildren, costumes, and making quilts. Laura and JP retired in 1997 and moved to Mandan, ND. In 2004, they moved to Bismarck, ND, where their home was the gathering center for all their children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. Laura is survived by her husband, JP; son, Larry Grundhauser, Bismarck, ND; daughters, Janet (Dennis) James, Allen TX; Nancy (John) Duletski, Belfield, ND; Carol Schwenk, Gales Ferry, CT; 10 grandchildren; Mark (Sarah) Herold, Amy (Shane) Yates, Janna (Joe) Rodakowski, Katie (Craig) Serr, Ryan (Jennifer) Duletski, Daniel (Carla) Duletski, James (Jessica) Duletski, Brian Schwenk, Jackie Schwenk, Kevin (Meghan) Schwenk; two step-grandchildren, Andy (Laurie) James, Mathew (Trisha) James; fifteen great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. Laura is also survived by her brother, Kenneth (Martina) Stagl, New England, ND; and sister-in-law, Leona (John) Linster, Oklahoma City, OK Laura was preceded in death by her sister-in-law and husband, Ann and Calvin Doe; and sons-in-law, Gregory Schwenk and Kenneth Herold.
