Laura Speller

Laura Ione Speller (Tiokasin), Bismarck, died on May 15, 2024. 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 17, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck. 

Jibby was born on August 22, 1954 in Bismarck, ND. She attended grade school through high school in Bismarck. She then spent a year of schooling in Ft. Yates before receiving her GED from United Tribes Technical College. Jibby brought three children into the world, Tika Plenty Chief (Thomas), Jordan Tiokasin and Wynd Tiokasin. She also raised her oldest granddaughter, Cheyenne Cash (Tiokasin) who she took as her own. Jibby started out her working life at the United Tribes Preschool working as a teaching assistant. She went on to work many years at TJ Maxx. She loved people and fashion, and loved her time there. She spent her later years playing bingo and enjoying time spent with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved time with her best friends and cousins, Bonnie, Kathy and Sherri.

Jibby was preceded in death by her father, George Tiokasin and her mother, Verna Bell; sisters, Vinnie Brown and Mary A. Livers, both of Oklahoma; brothers, Ron Whitman, Oklahoma, and George Tiokasin Jr., Minnesota.

She is survived by sisters, Margo Bean & her husband, Oklahoma, and Anne Marie, Minnesota; brother, Virgil Tiokasin, North Dakota; special nephew, Junior Livers, Oklahoma; children, Tika Penty Chief (Thomas), Wynd Tiokasin and Jordan Tiokasin; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
