Laurence "Larry" Gruebele, 86, of Bismarck, ND, passed away peacefully on August 26th, 2024.
Born on November 3, 1937 in Lake Williams, ND, Laurence was the son of the late John and Margaret Gruebele. After eighth grade, Laurence started working several different construction jobs. Next, Laurence entered the US Army and served two years in Fort Riley, KS. Laurence found his passion in trucking. Initially he was an independent driver before building his fleet of trucks collaborating with Beyer’s Cement. He was known for his skill, dedication, and integrity in his work, earning the respect and trust of colleagues and clients alike.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Laurence married his high school sweetheart, Doris Gruebele, in 1956. Laurence was a proud father to two children—Cindy and Jay—and a doting grandfather to three grandchildren—Mitchel, Kaytlin, and Jayla. Laurence endlessly loved his family and would drop anything to spend time with them
In addition to his wife, Doris, his daughter, Cindy, and grandchildren, Laurence is survived by his brother Reinhold, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Jay.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 5:00-7:00 PM, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Laurence’s funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 10:30 AM at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. Lunch will follow the service before the burial at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
Laurence Gruebele will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his strong work ethic, and his generous spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
