LaWayne "Wayne" J. Buelow

January 31, 1956 — February 19, 2018

LaWayne “Wayne” John Buelow, 62, passed away February 18, 2018, in his hometown of Bismarck, ND, at CHI St. Alexius Hospital surrounded by his family members and friends. He will be missed by all. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 pm Friday, February 23, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 519 Raymond St., Bismarck, with Rev. Jared Johnson officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm Thursday, February 22, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm. LaWayne was born January 31, 1956, in Bismarck to LaWayne “Steve” Buelow and Pauline (Feist) Buelow. He attended Cathedral Grade School and graduated from St Mary’s Central High School in 1974 with honors. Wayne attended Bismarck Junior College then transferred to North Dakota State University where he graduated with honors on the Dean’s List with a degree in Electrical Engineering.  He worked as an electrical engineer at Basin Electric Power Coop in Bismarck: Midcontinent Area Power Pool in Minneapolis, MN; Montana Dakota Utility in Bismarck and Western Electricity Coordinating Council in Salt Lake City, Utah. Wayne enjoyed horseback riding with his Dad and brother. The family owned several horses with Wayne’s favorite being a chestnut Quarter horse named Mitsi. He also enjoyed motorcycle riding and took many trips including California and Sturgis, SD. His Dad passed on his passion for hunting and fishing. His favorite was hunting gophers on his Grandparents’ farm south of Napoleon, ND. Wayne shared his hunting and fishing passion with his son. Wayne also had a keen interest in BMW automobiles and enjoyed many river rafting trips in Montana, Idaho and Colorado, with his brother and friends. His father was a recipient of an organ donation which extended his life. As a result, Wayne also made the selfless choice to provide the gift of life to several recipients through organ donation. Wayne is survived by his mother, Pauline Buelow, Bismarck, ND; his brother, Larry Buelow, Billings MT; his son, Stevie; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, LaWayne “Steve”; an infant sister, Mary; and his grandparents, Magdalena and Lawrence Feist and Elizabeth and Paul Buelow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
