Lawerence “Larry” Senger, 77, Bismarck, passed away on March 25, 2024.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 3 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Visitation will start one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the ND Veterans Cemetery at 1:00. The live stream for the service can be found below.
Lawerence Paul Senger was born on September 18, 1946, to Philip and Amelia (Kuntz) Senger, the 8th of 12 children. He attended Cathedral and Bismarck High School and after graduation served in the Army. He was stationed in Germany, Korea, Vietnam and had several posts in the states. He ended his service a Vietnam combat veteran.
Larry married Astrid Akerberg on June 20, 1969. To this union, daughter, Leni Senger was born. He worked at various jobs after leaving the service eventually retiring as a Corrections Officer for the North Dakota State Penitentiary.
After retirement Larry and Astrid moved to Indiana to watch the grandkids grow up. He loved being a grandpa to his “Buddies.” Astrid and Larry decided they missed North Dakota and moved back in 2023. Larry was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2013. He went through several different treatments and things seemed to be under control. But once again, cancer triumphed and spread to other areas of his body. Once that started, it happened fast.
Larry enjoyed watching his favorite football team, the Kansas City Chiefs with his “fur baby” Ava.
He is survived by his wife Astrid; daughter, Leni and fiancé, Doug Dunn; grandsons, Wyatt, Nicholas, and Xander, Camby IN; sisters, Irene, Francie, and Marilyn.; brothers, David, Frank, and Jerry.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Charlotte, Vivian, and Margaret. Brothers, Leonard, Richard, and Maurice.
