Lee Sherwood Adams

Lee Sherwood Adams passed to his Maker after a short illness at Sanford Hospital on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, March 27, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Monday, March 26, at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Lee was the son of John Quincy Adams, Sr. and Virginia Lee Adams; born August 14, 1942, in Battle Creek, Michigan. Lee retired from the BNSF railroad as a carmen in 2008. He loved working on his Oldsmobiles, was an avid race fan of NASCAR’s Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Matt Kenseth and regularly attended local tracks in Mandan and Minot. He enjoyed breakfast with his old Railroad buddies. Lee graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1960. He spent four years in the United States Air Force as a helicopter mechanic at Minot Air Force Base. He also helped build the first Sikorsky Crane helicopter; in between jobs he was a truck driver. Lee was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife, Geneva, Bismarck; his son and his wife, Matthew and Millie Adams who reside in Texas; two sisters and one brother, JoAnn and Ralph Mitchell, Jane and Chris Markos, and John Quincy, Jr. and Linda Adams all from Michigan. Lee is also survived by three daughters by marriage, Rhonda and Kent Hartleib, Minot, Valerie and Michael Spaulding, Minneapolis, and Jodi and Tim LaHaise, Minot, and preceded by Bradley Borud (deceased) and wife Merrie; Minot; several nieces and nephews survive him as well. He leaves two grandchildren, Allison and Daniel Myers and Isaiah (great-grandson) and Andrew and Dana Adams as well as ten grandchildren by marriage, Nicole Borud, Derek Borud, Wyatt Borud Werner, Craig Dalen, Paul Dalen, Amber Wagner, Ashley Spaulding, Brandon Spaulding, Danielle Hauser, Miranda Pennington, nine great-grandchildren; and lifelong friends in Michigan, Jerry and Sharon Logan and family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a cancer society in your area or the Wounded Warriors.
