LeRoy was born on January 29, 1945 in Minot, ND to Anton and Teresa (Steier) Kambeitz. He grew up in Karlsruhe, ND and graduated from Karlsruhe High School in 1963.
He entered the U.S. Army in November of 1965, serving alongside his older brother Mel. Together they fought for our country in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1967.
Upon returning home he got married, and to this union two daughters were born, Karla and Karen. Together his family owned and operated the hardware store in Wilton for many years.
In 1982, he married Susie Hanson and was blessed by another daughter Tory. Two additional blessings came, Kayla and LeRoy, which completed their family.
Together they made their home in Wilton where LeRoy worked at the Wilton school. He later went on to own his own construction business. LeRoy and Susie owned the Hannifin House Bed and Breakfast for five years. So many good memories came out of that adventure.
LeRoy was a member of the Lions Club, Legion Club, and served on many committees. He was the mayor of Wilton from 1997-1998.
In 2002, LeRoy and Susie moved to Windsor, CO, where LeRoy continued his construction business. While living in Windsor, they gained so many great friendships and shared a lot of memories. In 2012 they moved back to Bismarck to be closer to family.
LeRoy enjoyed softball games and watching the Packers play; he even got to watch a game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI. Most recently, Susie and LeRoy took their dream trip that included all of their children and their spouses. Papa LeRoy was so fond of his grandkids and always had a spot open on his lap.
LeRoy was known for being a helper. He was a great family man and friend to many. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Susie; children, Karla (Jeff) Nelson; Karen (Joel) Zwinger, Tory Hanson, Kayla (Jesse) Schumaker, LeRoy (Ashlee); grandchildren, Noah, Addison, Brooklyn, Hadley, Jayden, Logan, Camden, Merit, and Knox; brother, Mel; sister and brother-in-law, Sally (Phil) Dahle; sister-in-law, Jeanne Kambeitz; in-laws, Papa Jerry Murrey, Gordy (Ardell) Graner, Steve Graner, Lauree (Jesse) Hellman; and numerous special nieces, nephews, and friends.
