Burial  will be at Stewardsdale Cemetery.

He was born on March 9, 1935. He was the son of pioneers and lived on his family farm his entire life. Leslie loved the outdoors and wildlife. Leslie was raised around horses and dogs and loved them both very much. He often talked about racing his horse at the Hazelton horse track when he was younger. He was great at breaking horses and training them to do tricks. He could stand on the saddle as the horse galloped or have them bow down to him with just a gentle touch. He also loved training cattle dogs and it wasn't unusual for him to receive calls from former customers looking for another trained cattle dog.

Leslie loved playing his guitar and singing and he was very good at it. He also played the dobro and enjoyed going to jam sessions. It was during one of these jam sessions that he met his wife Rose M. Schneider, they were married on December 21, 1958. They had four children, Kimberly, James, Patrick and Darin. He was very proud of his family and loved them very much. He also loved his family history and enjoyed passing on stories about his ancestors. Leslie is well known for telling stories and jokes.

Leslie and Rose loved riding horse together, singing and playing guitar, and hunting. They were a team when it came to farming and ranching. Leslie could always rely on Rose to milk the cows if he stayed in the field longer than planned. It was never unusual to see both of them in the field working together once the kids were in school or old enough to be home alone. Working cattle was a family affair and they still loved each other when it was all said and done. Leslie loved his meat and potatoes for his meals but most of all he loved Rose's homemade bread and always had to have a slice or two with every meal.

Trying to make a living on a farm makes a person a jack of all trades, Leslie could fix or build almost anything. It was never unusual to find him welding together angle iron to make a squeeze chute or stock rack for the pickup when he got done milking cows. He could change engines in vehicles, fix his machinery, or even fix the plumbing. He worked at the neighborhood body shop for a while to make some extra money. Leslie was on the Telfer School Board and was elected President. He was on the board for the Stewardsdale Cemetery for many years.

Leslie is survived by his wife Rose; his daughter Kimberly; his sons James and Darin; his sister, Doris (Raymond) Carlson; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Leslie was preceded in death by his son, Patrick D. Stewart; his parents, Alexander Stewart and Vera (Gramling) Stewart; his sister, Alice Mae (George) Emineth; his nephew, Gary Emineth; his brothers-in-law, George Emineth and Raymond Carlson.
