Leslie "Wayne" Clark

Leslie “Wayne” Clark, 85, passed away peacefully at Sanford Health with family and friends by his side on April 19. 2017. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, April 26, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Family will greet guests one hour prior to the service. Wayne was born November 26, 1931, in Bismarck, ND, the son of Leslie and Gladys (Doehle) Clark. He was raised on the Clark Family Homestead south of Bismarck and received his elementary education at rural Manning School #1. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1949. Wayne served in the North Dakota Army National Guard from 1951 to 1960 reaching the rank of Sergeant First Class. He married Beverly Hanson on October 3rd, 1964. He worked for H.V. Johnston Culvert Company in sales for 36 years retiring in 1994. Wayne enjoyed boating, fishing and spending time at his cabin on Lake Sakakawea, Pick City, ND. In 1996, he received recognition from Gov. Ed Schafer for his heroic lifesaving effort after a boating accident. Wayne was a dedicated son and was honored to take care of his mother, Gladys in her elderly years. He was an avid football and Nascar racing fan and enjoyed watching the Vikings and NDSU games with family and friends.  He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club. Wayne is survived by his daughter, Mari Lyn Clark-Longshaw, Bismarck; grandson, Elijah W. Longshaw, Bismarck; stepson, Gary Dire, Mandan; and step-grandson, Josiah Dire, Mandan; and many other family members, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Gladys Clark; his sister, Marilyn Kay Clark; and wife, Beverly Clark.
