Lester Neff

Lester Neff, 81, Bismarck, died on February 27, 2024. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 6 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. In honor of Les’ favorite color, the family will be wearing blue on the day of the service. The family asks that those attending the service wear their favorite blue shirt in memory of Les.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. A prayer service will begin at 7 p.m.

Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Lester was born on October 14, 1942 in Turtle Lake to Aaron and Hilda (Johnson) Neff. He grew up in McClusky and graduated from McClusky High School in 1960. He enlisted in the Army in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1963.

He married the love of his life, Patricia Schlenker on May 22, 1965. They were blessed with two children, Lisa and Todd. Les and Pat cherished 58 years of their marriage, and spent most of their time building a business, traveling, and enjoying each other’s company.

He was employed with Bergstrom Supply from 1963 until 1971. Les and Pat were involved in establishing Farm and Home Supply in November 1971. The two continued this business venture as owners, until Les’ retirement in Fall 2013. Upon retirement, they bought a home in Chandler, Arizona where they spent five winters.

Les was a life member of the Bismarck-Mandan Elks Club. He enjoyed spending time with family. Les was very proud of his children’s accomplishments. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and driving his Corvette.

Les is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Gimbel, Iowa; son, Todd Neff, Bismarck; grandchildren, Kaleb Gimbel and Teresa Gimbel; brother, Dean Neff; and brother-in-law, Dennis Schlenker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marvin Neff; and sisters-in-law, Francis Neff, Joyce Schlenker and Elaine Neff.
